Welcome to Sir Maurice Brown International School (SMBIS). SMBIS is the brainchild of a group of Old Faujians (former cadets of Faujdarhat Cadet College) who formed Faujians Enterprise Ltd. to take up this project as its initial task. The inspirations behind the idea are the ideals and training from their own cadet college days. Col. Brown was the original architect of this educational system, which emphasizes the importance of courage, discipline, determination and the ability to face the world. Lt. Col. William Maurice Brown, Squadron leader, recipient of Britain’s Order of the British Empire, Observer (Extra-ordinary) of the United Nations, New Zealand Government Minister, mountain climber, shooter, boxer, cricket and rugby player, teacher, administrator, builder, humanist and internationalist, was the chief architect of cadet colleges in the country. No wonder his students decided to name the school in his memory.

In fact, the current torch bearers intend to familiarize students at an early stage with the ideas behind cadet college education.

In order to inculcate a balanced and multifaceted character within the personalities of our pupils, teaching and learning is the focus of our institution. A team of dedicated and experienced teachers under the direction of a widely experienced Head of School form the core of our staff. Extra-curricular activities like arts and crafts, debating, ICT, Self-defense class etc. is also a part of our curriculum.

For the rapidly globalizing world, proficiency in the English language from a very early age is a major goal of our school. The curriculum is also ingrained firmly in our own society, through proper grounding in Bangla and our cultural and historical roots.

William Maurice Brown, Lt. Colonel, Squadron Leader, recipient of Britain’s. Order of the British Empire, Observer (Extraordinary) of the United Nations, New Zealand government minister, mountain climber, shooter, boxer, rugby player, cricketer, teacher, administrator, builder, humanist, and internationalist, was the chief architect of cadet colleges in the country. The long-time principal of Faujdarhat Cadet College had left his disciples for eternal peace but his legend will continue to live.

Colonel Brown gave his all to the development of the college and to the welfare of its ‘Boys.’ In this great effort he was ably helped by his wife , whose interest was beyond the normal duties of a principal’s wife. Mrs. Brown for years cheerfully worked a full-time voluntary job in the college administration office.

Feedback regarding School Long Holiday for Ramadan 2023

I am not comfortable as a parent with the idea of providing a long holiday, i.e. 40+ days, for Ramadan 2023. I believe that such a lengthy break for students doesn't allow for any learning opportunities, especially when most other schools in Chittagong are offering only 15 days off before Eid during Ramadan. Therefore, I do not support SMBIS's decision on this
