VUZF University is a private educational institution. It was founded by Resolution of the National Assembly dated 25.07.2002 (Prom. In the "State Newspaper" issue 75/02.08.2002) and it is educating students in Bachelor's and Master's degree in majors from the professional field "Economics". In some of the majors of the two educational degrees the training is carried out in partnership with business organizations, among which are The Business Institute, Saatchi & Saatchi, FiBank, ERP Academy, Trace Group, "Bulgarion" Media Academy, Microsoft Academy, Oracle Academy, SAP, The Bulgarian Network of the UN Global Compact, etc. VUZF University has established a longtime tradition for the training of highly qualified staff for the needs of both economics and scientific research.

VUZF University received institutional accreditation from the Accreditation Committee of National Evaluation and Accreditation Agency - NEAA, by Protocol № 11/27.03.2008 and program accreditation for the "Economics" professional field from the Standing Committee on Economic Sciences and Management with NEAA, by Protocol № 103/09.06.2009, for the period of six years.

In May 2014 the institutional accreditation was extended from the Accreditation Committee of NEAA for a period of six years, by Protocol № 9/08.05.2014.

In June 2020 the institutional accreditation was extended for a period of five years from the Accreditation Committee of NEAA, by Protocol № 6/11.06.2020.

In April 2016 VUZF received program accreditation for the professional field "Economics" from the Standing Committee on Economic Sciences and Management with the National Evaluation and Accreditation Agency - NEAA, by Protocol № 6/23.03.2016, for the period of six years.

Also in April 2016, the university received program accreditation for the following doctoral programs: "Finance, insurance and social insurance" and "Accounting, control and analysis" from "Economics" professional field for the period of five years, from the Standing Committee on Economic Sciences and Management with NEAA, by Protocol № 6/23.03.2016.

In May 2013 VUZF University received International Higher Education Accreditation by the British Accreditation Council (BAC) for the maximum period of 4 years. This accreditation is in accordance with the standards for quality of the learning process, teaching staff and material base applicable to the UK universities. In December 2017 the British and International accreditation of VUZF University was renewed by BAC for a new four-year term.

The university has developed and implemented an internal system for quality management in accordance with the international quality standards ISO 9001:2008, ISO 9004:2009 and ISO/IWA 2:2007 and also with the requirements of the European standards and instructions for internal providing of quality at the higher schools. The system is certified by Moody International, re-certified by the same organization and confirmed by NQA.

The main strategic goal of the higher school is to provide high quality of its activities and to ensure the establishment of high morality in the students, teachers, and employees of the school. In order to achieve this goal, the higher school has set specific strategic targets and tasks for the development of the educational activity, scientific research activities, material-technical and information base and the staffing.
