The University of Indonesia is a modern, comprehensive, open, multi-cultural, and humanist campus that covers broad scientific disciplines. UI is currently simultaneously trying to be one of the leading research universities or academic institutions in the world. As a research university, the highest achievement efforts in terms of discovery, development and diffusion of knowledge regionally and globally are always carried out. Meanwhile, UI also deepens its commitment in its efforts in the field of academic development and research activities through a number of scientific disciplines within its scope.

The embryo of the UI began in 1849 and the UI is a representation of the oldest educational history in Asia. Having produced more than 400,000 alumni, UI continuously continues to play an important role at the national and world level. However UI cannot escape from its current mission of becoming a high-quality educational institution, researching world standards and maintaining prestigious standards in a number of international journals.

UI is actively developing global collaboration with many world-renowned universities. In addition, UI is currently also strengthening its cooperation with several educational and research associations including:  APRU  (Association of Pacific Rim Universities) with roles as Board of Directors,  AUN  (ASEAN University Network), and  ASAIHL  (Association of South East Asian Institutions of Higher Learning).

Green Campus

Geographically, the position of the UI campus is in two areas, Salemba and Depok. The majority of faculties are in Depok with an area of ​​320 hectares with a green campus atmosphere   because only 25% of the land is used as an academic, research and student facility. 75% of the UI area can be said to be green areas in the form of urban forests. An area that promises an atmosphere of academic calm and beautiful traditions.
